Este \u00edndice es calculado para 97 pa\u00edses de todo el mundo y mide cu\u00e1n tan respetados son los derechos a la propiedad en un pa\u00eds, en base a una escala de 0 a 10, donde 0 equivale al m\u00ednimo de respeto y 10 el m\u00e1ximo respeto. Para el 2014, la Rep\u00fablica Dominicana alcanz\u00f3 una puntuaci\u00f3n de 4.9, ligeramente por debajo del promedio de Latinoam\u00e9rica. Adem\u00e1s, Rep\u00fablica Dominicana se posicion\u00f3 en el lugar 64 de 97 a nivel mundial situ\u00e1ndose como un pa\u00eds de poco respeto a los derechos de propiedad privada.
