Entre 1991 y 2016, los gastos reales del Gobierno Central se incrementaron 9.2 veces su monto, mientras que el Producto Interno Bruto (PIB) real se increment\u00f3 3.8 veces durante igual per\u00edodo. Como consecuencia, el gasto p\u00fablico m\u00e1s que duplic\u00f3 su participaci\u00f3n en el PIB de Rep\u00fablica Dominicana: de 7.3% del PIB en 1991 a 17.6% en 2016. El PIB es una estimaci\u00f3n estad\u00edstica que mide le valor monetario de los bienes y servicios del consumo final dentro de un pa\u00eds, en este caso, en el per\u00edodo de un a\u00f1o. Por otro lado, el gasto total indica el valor monetario del total de las erogaciones del Gobierno Central durante un a\u00f1o, ya sea para gastos corrientes o de
