La primera gr\u00e1fica muestra el porcentaje que representa cada una de las energ\u00edas usadas en Rep\u00fablica Dominicana, por fuente de generaci\u00f3n. La matriz energ\u00e9tica o de generaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Vale la pena resaltar el incremento en la generaci\u00f3n a base de gas natural, la cual pas\u00f3 de 31.9% en 2013 a 40.9% en 2022. Otro cambio es el incremento en el uso de carb\u00f3n, particularmente despu\u00e9s de la entrada en operaci\u00f3n de la Central Punta Catalina en 2019. Tanto el carb\u00f3n como el gas han mantenido su participaci\u00f3n casi invariable entre 2022 y junio de 2023. Mientras se produc\u00edan estos cambios, se reduc\u00eda la generaci\u00f3n en base a fuel oil. En la actualidad solo representa el 12.5% de la generaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El \u00faltimo cambio importante fue el incremento de la producci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda en base a fuentes renovables no convencionales. A junio de este a\u00f1o, la producci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda renovable representaba el 16.3% de la matriz. En 2013 ese total era 16.6%. La p\u00e9rdida en producci\u00f3n hidr\u00e1ulica ha sido compensada por e\u00f3lica, solar y biomasa. Ese comportamiento se observa en la segunda gr\u00e1fica.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En el mundo, las renovables representan el 30% de la generaci\u00f3n. De ese total, el 55%, aproximadamente, proviene de hidroel\u00e9ctricas. Es decir, alrededor del 16.5% de la energ\u00eda mundial. El desarrollo de m\u00e1s hidroel\u00e9ctricas, con participaci\u00f3n de privados que arriesguen capital en las mismas, ser\u00eda un avance localmente. Las dem\u00e1s renovables deber\u00e1n ir avanzando en la medida en que las tecnolog\u00edas permitan abaratar costos de producci\u00f3n y almacenamiento.
