RD ocupa el cuarto lugar regional en gasto legislativo por habitante<\/strong><\/h2>\n

La Rep\u00fablica Dominicana ocupa el cuarto puesto entre 17 pa\u00edses de Am\u00e9rica Latina en gasto legislativo por habitante. En 2025, el Poder Legislativo dominicano tuvo un costo de US$13.9 por habitante, superior al promedio regional de US$13.2.<\/p>\n

Por encima de Rep\u00fablica Dominicana se encuentran Uruguay, con un gasto de US$54.0 por habitante; Panam\u00e1, con US$33.2 y Costa Rica, con US$28.9. El pa\u00eds tambi\u00e9n se sit\u00faa por encima del promedio regional de US$13.2 por habitante, ubic\u00e1ndose entre los pa\u00edses con mayor gasto legislativo por habitante de la comparaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

En 2025, el gasto ejecutado del Poder Legislativo dominicano ascendi\u00f3 a RD$9,934.9 millones. De este monto, RD$6,646.4 millones, equivalentes al 66.9%, correspondieron a la C\u00e1mara de Diputados, mientras RD$3,288.5 millones, el 33.1%, fueron ejecutados por el Senado.<\/p>\n

Del gasto ejecutado por el Poder Legislativo en 2025, el 93.3% se concentr\u00f3 en tres grandes categor\u00edas: remuneraciones y contribuciones, que representaron el 59.2% e incluyen gastos como sueldos, sobresueldos, dietas y gastos de representaci\u00f3n, gratificaciones y bonificaciones y contribuciones a la seguridad social; bienes y servicios, con el 24.4%, que comprende partidas como publicidad, seguros, eventos, vi\u00e1ticos y combustibles; y transferencias al sector privado, con el 9.7%, destinadas principalmente a ayudas y donaciones a personas.<\/p>\n

Los recursos destinados al Poder Legislativo provienen de los ciudadanos y tienen un costo de oportunidad. Una mayor cantidad de legisladores o un mayor presupuesto no se traducen necesariamente en una mejor representaci\u00f3n ni en legislaci\u00f3n de mayor calidad. Lo relevante es que los recursos utilizados respondan a las funciones propias de la instituci\u00f3n y generen resultados que justifiquen el costo asumido por los contribuyentes.<\/p>\n
